Family Days Out in Andalucia Costa Del Sol

Our family has been visiting the Costa Del Sol on Vacation for several years now, and we have managed to have quite a few fun days out together. Apart from the obvious things like going down the beach or messing around in the pool. I have listed below a few places you may want to go to spend a day out together.

The ideas listed below are all supported by links to the relative websites which give more detials on facilities, locations and costs.

Selwo Adventure Safari Park, "the cageless zoo"

Selwo Marina

Gibraltar

Dolphin and Whale Watching

Water Parks and Theme Parks

The Mountain Train to Ronda

The choice is yours...........

Selwo Adventure Safari Park, "the cageless zoo"

Selwo Adventure Park is best described as an activity centre with animals in it. The park is massive and has a fanstastic walk through aviary ( about a mile long ! ), as well as a mini safari that takes you on open top safari trucks amongst the animals as they roam free about the place.

You will spend the entire day there as there is so much to see and do, bring your walking shoes.

Gibraltar Back to the top

You have just got to go to Gibraltar, its only 15 minutes drive and is full of interesting things to do. I have dedicated a seperate page to Gibraltar as I enjoy it so much. You can go up the Rock for the views and the apes or visit the incredible caves dug by the military to keep out unwanted German tourists.

Dolphin and Whale Watching Back to the top

One of the little known pleasures is the Dolphin Safaris running out of Gibraltar Marina. They are excellent value for money. The boat trips are relatively inexpensive and you'll always get a result with the Dolphins. In fact if you don't see one you get your money back !

Water Parks and Theme Parks Back to the top

Just thirty minutes drive away is the Bahia Water Park at Algericas. It has lots of different slides and pools and is a great place to sunbathe while the kids wear themselves out on the incredidle range of slides and activities. Plan a day out, there as there are reasonably priced bars and restaurants within the site.

You can get a good idea what its all about on their website.

Tivoli World is located in Arroyo de la Miel which is part of Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol.

The park is designed for adults as well as children and has wonderful gardens, fountains and walkways. This park is one of the oldest established on the coast.

Mountain Train to Ronda Back to the top

Catch the Mountain Train to Ronda. You travel for 2 hours on a single track line, designed by a British Engineer 102 years ago.

The spectacular mountain scenery is impossible to be seen by road. There are many little villages en route, with their delightful Victorian stations. The views as you climb through the mountains are truly stunning, an ever changing landscape of lakes, waterfalls, and cork forests.

When you arrive at Ronda, a walk through the shopping centre will take you to the 18th century bridge over the famous Gorge. For 3 hours you are free to explore this old Moorish town before rejoining the train to enjoy the wonderful scenery through the mountains back to the coast.
